The Home Stretch

What’s today?  December 20, 2011.  Four shopping days left til Christmas.  Across the nation, Toys R Us opened at 6am this morning and will remain open  until 10pm on Christmas Eve, December 24th.  That’s 112 hours to do the last minute shopping for your little ones.  Just remember, has toys too, and you have until December 22nd to complete your online orders.

The Postal Service expects to deliver 16.5 billion letters, packages and cards between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Eve.  The busiest day for mailing this trove of holiday cheer is expected to be Tuesday, Dec. 20, when 801 million cards and letters will be processed – nearly double the average daily volume.

The busiest day for delivery of packages is a day earlier – Monday, Dec. 19.   I say avoid the lines, do your shopping online from home and let, Best Buy, Endless, or Links of London do the shipping for you.  Click on the banners and text on the right side of the screen and purchase the remaining items on your Holiday list.

Wishing You and Your Family a Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!!

Results of Cyber Monday

While driving to work yesterday I was listening to WTOP.  It was predicted that at least $1.2 million would be spent yesterday, Cyber Monday.     The broadcaster stated that approximately 60% of the workforce would be shopping online, and that employers were aware of this and receptive to it, as long as employees did their work first.  Question, how many of us really did our work first?

According to USA Today, online traffic was up 43% from last year, and online sales were up 18% over Cyber Monday 2010 as of 9 p.m. ET.

PriceGrabber identified electronics as the most popular items this year, with sales up 26% over last year, and products such as flat-screen TVs and digital cameras are leading the pack.  EBay’s Cyber Monday special Monday morning on a white Apple iPad2 for $449 sold out in less than two hours, says Richelle Parham, chief marketing officer for eBay North America.

ComScore predicts that online sales for November and December will hit $37.6 billion, a 15% rise over 2010.  Wow!!!  That’s alot of money.  How did we ever make it without the internet?  Anyway, Happy Holidays!!USA Today and Black Friday on YouTube
