50 Shades of Grey

Wow!!!  This book is off the Richter scale.  Supposedly selling one copy per minute.  What’s the book about?  When literature student Anastasia Steele goes to interview young entrepreneur Christian Grey, she encounters a man who is beautiful, brilliant, and intimidating. The unworldly, innocent Ana is startled to realize she wants this man and, despite his enigmatic reserve, finds she is desperate to get close to him. Unable to resist Ana’s quiet beauty, wit, and independent spirit, Grey admits he wants her, too—but on his own terms.

Shocked yet thrilled by Grey’s singular erotic tastes, Ana hesitates. For all the trappings of success—his multinational businesses, his vast wealth, his loving family—Grey is a man tormented by demons and consumed by the need to control. When the couple embarks on a daring, passionately physical affair, Ana discovers Christian Grey’s secrets and explores her own dark desires.

Recordable Book – A Charlie Brown Christmas

So, Christmas day finally arrived and I gave Kelvin his stocking stuffer – A Charlie Brown Christmas.  Hallmark created a recordable book containing the text from A Charlie Brown Christmas, and I was able to record the story in my voice.

I handed the book to Kelvin on Christmas morning and he tore off the wrapping paper and expressed great appreciation.  He opened the book, but he was turning the pages too quickly to hear me reading.    He eventually turned to the first page of the story and heard the voice.  OMG, he went crazy.  I caught part of his excitement on video.  Checkout the video.  Kelvin and A Charlie Brown Christmas

I love to shop for gifts that receive the reaction Kelvin exhibits in the video.  It makes my shopping experience worthwhile, plus it proves that I take the time to shop for gifts that people will love.  Take the time to buy special gifts for the people you care about.

The Triplets’ Birthday Party

It’s the day after the grand party, and all is well.  The guests did well, because gifts and cards were flowing into the Triplets’ gift baskets all night long.  Somebody was doing some serious shopping; some of those gift bags were pretty big, and full of goodies.

Ettie, Ellen and Elaine looked like they were having a great time.  They know how to work a room.  The music was pumping and thumping in the basement, and greetings, conversations, and laughter were everywhere on the first floor.  It was great seeing everyone as a precursor to the New Year.   So, here’s to a great party Ettie, Ellen, and Elaine.  Wishing you many more Happy Birthdays.

A Great Christmas in St. Louis

I’m heading back to DC today. The time with my family is never long enough, but we’re going to spend more time together in 2012.

I’m at O’Hare airport in Chicago, waiting for my connecting flight to Baltimore. You know I love to shop, so I had to check out the merchandise at several airport shops.  One store had great accessories for electronics such as iPhones, iPads, and computers. Another store, Barbara’s Books, had a very appealing display of business/entrepreneurial books. I didn’t make any purchases because Amazon has everything I need.

Invest in yourself for 2012 with one of the Best Selling items or one or more of the Movers and Shakers at Amazon.

Wishing Everyone A Happy New Year!!

My Best Friend

I had lunch with my best friend today.  She took me to a great restaurant called The Fountain on Locust.  I had the most delicious Grand Chocolate Martini (made with homemade ice cream)  and a  Royale Grille (grilled cheese with turkey).

So, who’s my best friend?  Her name is Deborah Miller.  I call her Debbie.  We grew up together on Red Bud Avenue in St. Louis, MO and attended Northwest High School.  It’s been a while since Debbie and I have seen each other, but today was a real treat.  We caught up on everything.  We reminisced about Glenn (Debbie’s husband) taking us to school in his orange Volkswagen Beetle.  I loved that car!!!  We also reminisced about Debbie’s trip to DC to visit me while I was attending Howard University.  We talked about her two beautiful sons, Cory and Chris, and her grandson, Aiden.  Seems Cory and I have similar tastes for Rolex watches and luxury cars.  Debbie and I had a great time today.

So, start the new year right.  Reunite with your childhood best friend, visit The Fountain on Locust for excellent cuisine and fabulous ice cream martinis, click on Rolex watches and purchase a luxury watch for you or someone you love from Time and Gems, and start your own business, for an additional stream of income and tax advantage.

We Made It Through Christmas – Whew!!!

So, we made it through another Christmas.  There was snow on the ground when I woke up this morning.  I was dreaming of a white Christmas and a Platinum Rolex Day-Date II.  Hope you got everything you wished for.  I know some of you probably cut it kind of close, but you made it.  Whew!!!

What’s hot today?   The following items in our book category are best sellers and movers and shakers:  Art Wolfe, Travels to the Edge 2012 Wall Calendar, Steve Jobs, A Brief History of Thought: A Philosophical Guide to Living, Lone Wolf: A Novel, and Think and Grow Thin: The Revolutionary Diet and Weight-loss System That Will Change Your Life in 88 Days!.  Click on any of the Amazon banners or highlighted text for additional best sellers, movers and shakers, and year end deals.

I’m still in St. Louis with my Mom and brothers having a great time.  Had my favorite White Castle cheeseburgers today.  Love those White Castles.  I’ll be heading back to DC on Thursday morning, but I’ll always be here for your online shopping needs, because I Love To Shop.

Christmas Eve

Mom, Joani, Kelvin & Bill

We attended a great party at Jean Turner’s house last night. Something I like about Jean is that she loves to shop.   She’s always sharp when I see her, and her house is finely appointed.

My Mom, Kelvin, and I intended to go to the party for a short period of time, but ended up staying much longer.  Bill joined us a little later.   Everyone was required to bring $5 worth of lottery scratch-offs as a Secret Santa gift and also contribute $5, so everyone received at least a $5 gift.

Jean, Lynn (Jean’s daughter) and several others were busy in the kitchen preparing numerous goodies for dinner.  There was everything you could imagine to drink.  Conversation was flowing and photos were being snapped.  Everyone was having a wonderful time.  Dinner was served, and the seniors were seated at the dining room table.  Kelvin and I headed to the loft with our plates filled with buffalo chicken, cole slaw, potato salad, ham, pork roast, and chili. It was a great party and a great way to spend Christmas Eve.

Merry Christmas!!!

It’s Great To Be Home

I arrived in St. Louis at 9:10pm on Friday, Dec. 23, 2011.  When I walked around the corner to go to baggage claim I could see Kelvin and my Mom waiting for me.  Kelvin saw me first and started smiling.  When he raised his index finger acknowledging me, then my Mom saw me.  Wow, their smiles radiated so much love that it was amazing.  I finally reached them and their hugs were great.

Kelvin and I talked about business all the way home from the airport.  I was telling him about a great book I started reading on my flight.  The book is Get Rich Click! by Marc Ostrofsky and is available at Amazon.com in hardcover and for the Kindle.  He dropped Mom and me at home then he went to do his weekly hip hop broadcast on KDHX – 88.1 FM (Deep Krate Radio).  My Mom and I talked while I ate my favorite, Shrimp Fried Rice.  We finally came upstairs and I settled into my old room, the room I called mine from age 10 – 18.

After Kelvin finished at KDHX we stayed up til the we hours of the morning discussing affiliate marketing, paypal, Cufflinks.com, and a bunch of other business ideas.  I was amazed that Cufflinks.com is bringing in $5 million a year.  A success story you’ll find in Get Rich Click!

So, 2012 look out.  I’m on fire, Kelvin’s on fire, and we are going to make crazy revenue on the internet, and teach others how to create wealth.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!

A Charlie Brown Christmas

Hallmark has created the most adorable recordable books.  A Charlie Brown Christmas is one of the recordable books. The other recordable Christmas books are The Night Before Christmas and Frosty The Snowman.  In an earlier blog I mention watching A Charlie Brown Christmas every year while growing up in St. Louis.  I also mentioned watching the show with my brothers, Kelvin and Bill.

Christmas 1967 - Joani, Kelvin, and Bill

So, here we are in 1967 watching A Charlie Brown Christmas.  I was 10 years old, Kelvin was 7 months old, and Bill was 7 years old.  We were young and excited about all the gifts that would be under the Christmas tree.

I purchased the Charlie Brown book for Kelvin, and recorded the story last night.  I had a great time making this gift very special.  I can’t wait to see Kelvin’s face when he hears my voice.

My Mom’s Christmas Present

I haven’t spent Christmas with my family in St. Louis for two years.  On July 1, 2009 I was playing volleyball at my office cookout.  I jumped in the air to return the winning shot and when I came down on my right leg I felt something pop.  I tore my ACL and meniscus.  In simpler terms, I blew my knee out.  As a result I had two surgeries, the first to reconstruct my ACL in August 2009, followed by the second surgery in December 2009.   It took a while to get my range of motion back, and arthritis developed under my knee cap.  So, I haven’t been home to St. Louis since my knee accident.

Christmas 1967 - Joani, Kelvin, and Bill

Well, I’ve been checking on travel arrangements all week.  Before I made my final flight selection I called my Mom to make sure my arrival and departure times wouldn’t conflict with her schedule.  Keep in mind I hadn’t told my Mom I was coming home.  I wish you could have heard the excitement in her voice when I said, “Mom, I’m making my travel arrangements to come home.”    She referred to me as her “Christmas Present.”  So, I’m looking forward to a joyful Christmas in St. Louis with my family.

Wishing You and Yours a Very Merry Christmas!
